LISTEN: The North And Wells Band Release ‘Issa Vibe’

Chicago based Soul band The North And Wells have released their new single ‘Issa Vibe’ today.

I caught up with the lead singer 12:12, John who plays the keys and Sam on the drums to find more about the song.

“We only started recording it in June.” Said John.

The song was conceptualised by band member Jake in 2017 but written by 12:12 recently.

“Issa Vibe was one of the hardest songs to write because of the instrumentation,” said the lead singer

“I knew I liked it off the bat, but I really had to sit on it and come up with the lyrics.”

The song has a mixture of some disco-funk and soul with some rap infused.

A sing along for a great time out with a heavy guitar in the background.

“It is really valuable to try and slot yourself into different genres.” Said Sam.

With the song dropping today, I wanted to find out how is the anxiety if there’s any.

“There’s obviously some anxiety because we want to put out music that people are going to enjoy.” Said John.

“We know it is a really good song and we really want to make it perfect.”

“There is that anxiety around hoping that the invest pays of basically because we’ve put a lot into this song.” Adds Drummer, Sam.

The band has over 350 thousand streams on music streaming platform, with ‘Chicago Summertime’ having the most streams.

An EP should be on the way as soon as Covid-19 decides to depart.
