Little Mix Start of the year with a sweet bang with Sweet Melody being their fifth UK number one.
It has been almost five years since the girls have had a number one record, Shout out to my ex was the last one in 2016.
Things changed this past Friday when they topped the Official Charts, which also air on BBC Radio 1 with Scott Mills.
“Sometimes the best hits take time,” said Perry about the song reaching number 1 months after its initial release.
This was one of their first interviews as a trio, since Jesy Nelson decided to quit the group in December of 2020.

Elsewhere, one of the co-writers of the song and adlib advisor, MNEK has now shared with fans how the song came about.
They mentioned that the song was written as far back as 2017, almost four years ago, but only was recorded last year.
In a close to 8-minute-long video on their Instagram page, MNEK plays some snippets of the song and explains the reason behind them.
“I really stan these kinds of videos where they get the stems of a song and break down the parts,”
“So I wanted to try one myself,” MNEK captioned the video on Instagram.

MNEK himself had one of the biggest songs of 2020, with smash record ‘Head and Heart’ with Joel Corry.
Leigh-Anne took to social media in excitement to thank their fans.
“To all the a,azing fans that have downloaded, streamed, posted and continued to show your support! WE LOVE YOUUUUU!” she exclaimed.
Jade mentioned how it was a great feeling that one of the last songs they did with the departed Jesy was a at number 1.
