Many fans have been wondering if The Weeknd South Africa tour is happening. We have all the tour deeds for you.
The Canadian born singer, Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, globally known as The Weeknd is getting ready for his stadium world tour.
It is called The After Hours Til Dawn tour, which is said to fuse in his last two albums.
His hometown Toronto will be the first to experience the stadium tour when it kicks off on July 8th, 2022.
“This is the first leg of The Weeknd’s massive world tour,” announced on his website.
“Additional dates in Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa & Middle East to be announced soon.”
Fan favourite, Doja Cat was to accompany The Weeknd on his tour, but canceled.
Why did Doja Cat Cancel The Weeknd Tour?
In March, The Weeknd officially announced the North American leg of this ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour.
This announcement let fans know that Doja Cat would be joining him over the summer on tour.
Just weeks later, Doja Cat Tweeted that she has tonsils.
“I started getting a nasty a– growth on my tonsil so they had to do surgery on it today.” Says doja to her 5 million Twitter followers.
She mentions that vaping might have been the reason why her tonsils got infected.
“Dr. just had to cut into my left tonsil… my whole throat is f–ked so i might have some bad news for yall coming soon.”
That was the tweet Doja Cat put out just hours after her surgery, and indeed bad news followed.
“The surgery is routine but the recovery is going to take awhile (sic) due to swelling,” wrote Doja on her Instagram story.
“That means I have to cancel my festival run this summer as well as The Weeknd tour.”
“I feel horrible about this but can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y’all,” she wrote.
The singer recently posted pictures of herself seemingly wearing a hospital gown. When asked about the surgery she replied, “did it already”.
With around two weeks left before the start of the tour, there is still no replacement announced.

The Weeknd South Africa Tour
Up until November 2021, there was no hope of The Weeknd South Africa tour happening.
Earlier we mentioned that “countries in South America, Australia, Africa and more are not mentioned in the line up.”
However, that changed when the Weeknd announced on his social media platforms that Africa will be getting the tour.
So as the question remains “is the weeknd coming to South Africa 2022?”
The answer to that is probably not this year but hopefully next year.
Dates for regions such as South America, Europe and more haven’t been announced yet.
Usually, South African tours of any world tour usually come after Europe or Australia.
The good news is that from June 23rd, the mask mandate in South Africa is officially over.
This now means that once The Weeknd South Africa dates are announced, no one can be left out.
Fellow Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber is scheduled to perform in South Africa this spring.
He will be performing in both Cape Town and Johannesburg.
If the ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ singer is to perform in the country, the abovementioned would be on the cards.
DHL stadium in Cape Town and FNB stadium in Johannesburg would be the obvious choice for The Weeknd South Africa tour.
