Canadian born international singer Justin Beiber has announced that half of is face is paralysed.
The ‘What do you mean’ singer posted a very disturbing video on Instagram on Friday night.
“I love you guys and keep me in your prayers,” he captioned the Instagram post.
In the video the singer can be seen blinking with only one eye, with the other eye still.
“As you can probably see from my face, I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome,” he said.
“Has caused my face to have paralysis.”
Throughout the very short video, Justin was demonstrating what is happening to his face.
He seemingly was trying to remember what he was trying to say next, saying a lot of ‘uhms’.
“There is full paralysis to this side of my face.”
Why is Justin Beiber’s Face Paralysed?
Half of Justin Beiber’s face is currently paralysed due to Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.
According to NORD, it is a rare neurological disorder characterized by paralysis of the facial nerve (facial palsy) and a rash affecting the ear or mouth.
It is caused by the same virus that causes either chickenpox, usually in kids, and shingles in adults, called varicella zoster virus (VZV).
“In most cases, only one side of the face is affected (unilateral),” says the Rare Diseases Organization.
Will Justin Beiber cancel South African Tour?
Justin Bieber is supposed to be headed to South Africa to tour in September and October.
He is due to perform in both Cape Town and Johannesburg.
“To those who are frustrated by my cancelations of the next shows, I am just physically obviously not capable of doing them,” says Bieber.
“My body is telling me I gotta slow down.”
It is still unclear whether he will be okay in time to perform in South Africa this spring.
The Toronto leg of his tour was postponed earlier this week.
According to his website, his next tour performance was scheduled for Monday, 13 June 2022, in New York.
By the looks of things, they will be cancelled or postponed including, Philadelphia, Boston, Milwaukee, and probably Los Angeles.
We will update this article with all the cancelled dates as soon as they are announced.
“I hope you guys understand.”
“I will be using this time to just rest and relax and get back to 100% so I can do what I was born to do,” says Beiber wrapping up the video.
He says he is doing facial exercises in the meantime to get his face back to normal.
Many people took to his comment section to wish him well.
Fellow Canadian singer Shawn Mendez was one of the people who sent out their wishes.
“I love you so much. I adore you so much,” said Mendez.
“Love u brother! U will be great!” said Dj Khaled.
Rocking the Daisies 2022 headliner Kehlani told the singer to “please take all the time you need!!”
