WEBNov 14, 2010 · I bought 10 pounds of antimonylead alloy in 1 lb. ingots, and my friend is going to cast 5/8" balls for me. The ingots cost each. I settled on the 5/8" size as a compromise between 1/2" and 3/4" for my " diameter 1 gallon jar. I think the added weight over the 1/2" balls will be a little more efficient.

WEBMar 15, 2021 · Somewhere around here I reported my results with various sizes of SS media from 3/161/2" diameter spheres, using a 4" diameter mill jar to mill the charcoal. The potassium nitrate grinds better with the larger 1/2" media. The sweet spot for charcoal in my rudimentary testing was 5/16" diameter.
